Until now, I had not given much thought to golf as being something that is healthy for you. However, I recently learned that golfers have been holding out on a big secret. Did you know that The United States Golf Association advise that when you play a round of golf, you should walk the golf course if you can? They say that riding in a golf cart should be avoided, if at all possible.
On the other hand though, local golf courses want you to ride a golf cart to play the course because they want to get as many rounds played in as short an amount of time as possible. The reason for this is they get more revenue from renting the cart to you. This is business, but their business does not help your health.
Personally, I have to pushed and motivated in some kind of way just to do a little exercise such as walking for my health. Heck, I don't even walk to the mail box in front of the house unless I absolutely have to... that's what I have kids for. However, how many people do you know that have to be pushed or motivated to play a round or two of golf?
Walking a golf course gets your heart pumping and circulates blood throughout your whole body. So, as you can see... walking is great low level cardiovascular exercise. It is also a great way to enjoy the pleasure of walking in the outdoors away from it all. It helps you relax, and probably will improve your golf game. I've been told that the more relaxed you are, the better you play.
There are even studies that show walking a golf course during an 18 hole game of golf is equivalent to between 40% to 70% of an intense aerobics class. Playing 18 holes of golf and walking the course has also been shown to equate to a 45 minute workout. It is also equivalent to walking 3 to 4 miles. There are also studies which show walking the golf course is beneficial for lowering your bad cholesterol as opposed to riding in a cart.
Okay, I think you get the idea, so enough talk about golf being healthy for your body. Now let's look at something else I recently discovered... how golf can be healthy for your wallet and your bank account too.
You've no doubt heard about mystery shopping right? That's where some firm hires you to go to businesses and act as a regular customer... all the while, looking, listening, learning, and paying attention to all aspects of the business's customer service and appearance. For doing this, you are reimbursed for the items or services you purchase, gas allowance, and then you're paid on top of all that for your effort.
Women make up the bulk of mystery shoppers, however, there's a way for guys to get in on this and make even more money... just for playing golf. Hold on to your hats now... have you heard of mystery golfing? Yeah, I know, I couldn't believe it either. However it's true, there are firms you can sign up with that will pay you for playing golf.
I also found out that many types of businesses and business men will also pay you for playing golf with their business clients. First of all, you have to realize there have been billions of dollars in deals and contracts made while playing golf. That's one of the reasons why most folks look at golf as being a rich man's game for business executives and other well to do professionals. That is until Tiger Woods popped on the scene, then everyone and their little brother started playing golf.
After getting over the initial shock of finding out there were firms that would pay you to be a mystery golfer, then I started wondering why would big business folks and high income professionals pay you to play golf for them. That does sounds a little crazy don't you think?
Well guess what? Not all big business folks and professionals know how to play golf. And for many of them that do know how to play, they don't play well enough for the game to be entertaining to their clients. Otherwise, they would be so handicapped, that it would cause the game to drag out, cause the clients to get frustrated, and may lead to the loss of a big deal or contract.
So, they hire others to play golf in their place to entertain their clients. Another thing I found out is that you do not have to be a Tiger Woods or nowhere near that good to get paid to play golf. Just be good enough to make golf entertaining.
There is a guy who wrote a book and put it into digital download form that details everything about playing golf for free and getting paid to play. It has all the contacts, firms, and associations in it to get one started getting paid to play golf for free. It also has many other tips and pointers to make you more money playing free golf, and who your clients are, and how to get them to ring your phone off the hook to pay you to play.
So, for obvious reasons, I can't divulge his copyrighted secrets in a public article, but I can give you a 20 - page report I wrote up that will get you started playing better golf, and point you in the direction of how to learn to get paid to play golf for free. You'll find it in the external link below for those of you who have read this far.
Okay, that about wraps it up for what I can tell you about golf being healthy for your body and wallet, but I do want to leave you with these important thoughts. As with any exercise plan, you should check with your doctor first before you start. Your doctor can best determine if you are capable of walking for 18 holes on a golf course. However, I'm pretty sure the chances are that your doctor will enthusiastically recommend it.
So get out there and enjoy walking the golf course. It could improve your golf game. It will certainly improve your health, and now you know how it is also healthy for your wallet and your bank account. RESOURCES
